It's not at all obvious to me how to get EPICS data using JCA2. I tried adding

DBR_Int dbr = ( DBR_Int) ch.get( DBRType.INT, 1);

to the code in the configuration tutorial but all it returns is zero for a PV that has a non-zero VAL field. What am I missing?
