Subject: Fwd: problem building 3.14.8.2 with win32-x86

It looks like I may have found the problem: in RULES_BUILD, there is a segment

ifdef WIN32
ifdef BORLAND
        @$(INSTALL_PRODUCT) -d -m 555 $< $(INSTALL_BIN)
else
        @$(INSTALL_PRODUCT) -d -m 555 $<* $(INSTALL_BIN)
endif
else
        @$(INSTALL_PRODUCT) -d -m 555 $< $(INSTALL_BIN)
endif

If I remove the "*" in the line "@$(INSTALL_PRODUCT) -d -m 555 $<* $(INSTALL_BIN)", then the error goes away.

On to the next error...

I'm having a bit of a problem building epics base 3.14.8.2 w/ the win32-x86 platform. The build progresses ok for awhile til I get output from gnumake (3.78.1 or 3.80) that ends w/

"Installing binary ../../../bin/win32-x86/Com.dll"
Usage:
         [ -m mode ] file ... directory

        -d Create non-existing directories
-m mode Set the mode for the installed file (0755 by default)
        file Name of file
        directory Destination directory
Can't find file 'Com.dll*'
gnumake[3]: *** [../../../bin/win32-x86/Com.dll] Error 2
gnumake[3]: Leaving directory `D:/epics/base-3.14.8.2/src/libCom/O.win32-x86'
gnumake[2]: *** [install.win32-x86] Error 2
gnumake[2]: Leaving directory `D:/epics/base-3.14.8.2/src/libCom'
gnumake[1]: *** [libCom.install] Error 2
gnumake[1]: Leaving directory `D:/epics/base-3.14.8.2/src'
gnumake: *** [src.install] Error 2

I'm not sure I understand the reference to Com.dll* instead of Com.dll, but other than that I don't really know what might be wrong. Com.dll does exist in O.win32-x86. I'm using Visual C 6.0 and perl 5.6.1 from ActiveState.com or 5.8.8 from perl.com. The only changes I've made to the downloaded epics distribution is to uncomment the configure/os/CONFIG_SITE.win32-x86.win32-x86 file as suggested for vc 6 vs. .NET.
