Hello Emmanuel,
The recent Mantis entry 250 covers this issue:
The routines for escape sequence translation do exist in base. They are
not used though, as doing character translations for every quoted string
seems to slow down database loading beyond tolerable limits. (I never
tested it, just quoting the Mantis entry.)
I think there should at least be a way to switch on the translation from
the startup script, so that translation can be activated for certain
IOCs or database files.
Maybe the newer processors are fast enough to do the translations by
default without slowing down database loading too much? Don't know.
For the time being, Tim's suggestions sounds like a way to go.
Cheers,
Ralph

Hello,
I use a stingout record to write on my serial port.
The issue is that I want to write non-printable characters or Hex
values.
When in the db files I manually set field(VAL,"\x3A") (hex code for : ),
it prints \x3A... the escape sequence has not been recognized.
Is there a way to pass special characters through pao->val ?
