Dirk, thanks for bringing us the updated version.

Now, I have a question about building it. My target platform is linux-x86, EPICS 3.14.8.2, with asyn-4.5, including the open-source 
linux gpib drivers.

In attempting to build it on a virgin EPICS installation, I find that the Makefiles seem to be geared to EPICS 3.13 style build 
systems. Has anyone succeeded in building it under anything like my platform? I am attempting to wade through the process of 
converting things myself, but for me it is a non-trivial task, and I will probably naively do something that will haunt me later.

In devStreamProtocol.h, I see the line

#include <vxWorks.h>

and the build dies, looking for a lot of variabl type aliases (ushort_t, etc.)

Since this is a linux build, I have no such header file. Is there an alternate header file within EPICS base that defines these?
