Anyway, we are now focussing on how to restart soft IOCs from the iocsh, so
that we have at least a fallback inplace.
Ralph Lange would like to have the capability for a soft IOC to reboot itself. The easy way to handle this would be to have the IOC main program fork and wait, run the IOC in the child, when the child wants to reboot it would exit with a magic code -- the parent process would detect this then fork again and the process would repeat. Of course this extra overhead would be performed only when requested -- when a '-R' option is specified,perhaps.
The problem, of course, is Windows. Without cygwin, what can be done?
