I'm right now working on final improvements of Dave Thompson's procServ application (replacing GNU screen with a thin, stable environment for running soft IOCs). I will be releasing this version within the next days. You can have a look at last week's core-talk messages to get a rough impression of what it will be doing.

Hi John,

There was a Nov 2007 thread on a similar topic:

We still use screen here and we still have the problem (I think sys$output is blocked while scrolling?) and I haven't found a workaround. I'd be interested if anyone knows of a solution.

At some point, we will look at Ralph Lange's setup:

Subject: epics IOC and gun screen and copy/scrollback mode

Dear All,

When running an EPICS IOC inside GNU Screen we have noticed that if one enters the copy/scrollback mode an odd thing happens. The IOC continues to serve channels access requests but the data acquisition itself appears to be suspended. When someone accidentally leaves a screen session in the copy/scrollback mode we see that the PVs in that IOC are effectively frozen. If you then go to the screen session and exit copy/scrollback mode normal behavior resumes.

Have others seen this behavior? If so is there a known fix?
