I suspect that the problem is that Windows could not find a needed DLL. Unfortunately when this happens in a Cygwin bash shell it just silently exits, which is very annoying. To figure out the problem try launching the program from a normal Windows "cmd" shell window. You should then get a Windows dialog box telling you what the problem is. I suspect that you have built a dynamic executable, but that the EPICS DLLs are not in your path.

Hi,
I'm trying to learn EPICS (complete newbie).
I have installed the EPICS-base 3.14.10 in the cygwin-x86 platform, I have followed step by step the instruction manual IOC_Owerview but when I
type the IOC executable, (I was trying to execute the first example from the manual):
>../../bin/cygwin-x86/first st.cmd
Nothing happens, no error message or 'epics>' prompt.
Thanks for everyone's help and advice - I really appreciate it.
