Hi,

You can use a menu mux widget to provide a prefix to all PVs in all widgets on the page. If you set this prefix to EPICS\ it will behave in the normal way, if you set it to LOC\ then it will lookup the result in a local store of variables. As this variable doesn't exist it will look the same as if it was a disconnected PV. I've attached a sample screen that illustrates the behaviour: $(P):DISABLE is a record that disables all records from reading from or writing to a device, $(P):P:RBV is one of the records that reads from the device. When I set the menu mux to "Disabled" then $(P):DISABLE is set to 1 and the widget connected to $(P):P:RBV is connected to LOC\$(P):P:RBV and goes white.

Subject: EDM GUI disable/enable

I would like to be able to disable/enable an entire EDM GUI in a manner similar to what happens when an IOC goes away and is restarted. So say a device reset is initiated and you want to disable a GUI whilst that is happening. This could be based on the state of a binary record. Would anyone have a suggestion as to how this might be done please.

Regards

Steve
