VxWorks is a commercial real-time operating system used for embedded
devices such as your GPS, lots of telecomm devices, and many other
applications as well. One such other application is the Experimental
Physics and Industrial Control System (www.aps.anl.gov/epics) that uses
VxWorks as the OS for part of its distributed system of controllers.
That said, the EPICS community's experience with your device is more
limited. If you are interested in using your GPS with EPICS, then you
have come to the right place but it seems like that is not the focus of
your inquiry. Many in this tech-talk forum have great experience with
VxWorks and can advise you of some specifics, if you have access to the
VxWorks command line.
