Hello Steve, Patrick,
I had the same problem and made changes to ArchiveDataServer.cpp. Previously
I had built the channel archiver against R3.14.9. I checked it out and there
had been changes in EPICS base, but I didn't check out versions between to
see exactly when the change occurred. I took a quick look in the notes for
release changes and didn't see this particular change, but may have just
missed it. Actually I considered writing a bug report because I'm guessing
that it was intended that the changes be transparent...

Hello Patrick
I had to fix the same problem a few months ago; here is a version of
ArchiveDataServer.cpp with my changes. The lines I changed are marked
with comments containing "SJS".

Subject: channel archiver
Hi,
I was wondering what the latest version of base Channel Archiver has
been compiled against. I'm trying to use 3-14-11, but having trouble
with ArchiveDataServer.cpp:589 undefined reference to
`alarmStatusString` and 602: undefined reference to
`alarmSeverityString`. I tried including <alarmString.h> (in case it
wasn't being included from alarm.h), but that seemed to define the
extern variable differently. Did it get changed from an older version?
Thank you,
Patrick
