Which system are you interested in, instead of EPICS/CA?

Does your system fit the PV API framework? It should at least support
subscriptions, i.e. notification messages when a value changes. How are a
variable's alarm status and severity encoded and is this compatible to the way
the PV API defines them?
I may be persuaded to keep the PV layer if it turns out it is of any practical
use. I just don't like to maintain code that nobody uses and thus merely adds
overhead (runtime and maintenance costs). BTW, the sequencer uses only a
subset of the existing API, which I can identify to you, if you are
interested. In any case it would make sense to reduce the API to what the
sequencer actually needs.
