Thank you all who replied, for your very good descriptions/reports on the board failures.
I am surprised with the board's failure rate.
Your advices about the board/ crate/ cooling/ EMI stripes etc. are really helpfull.
Hope they will repair / replace the board quickly (it's under warranty).

Yes, we had the same problem in lcls. A some point the boards were manufactured such that that the bottom of the board would catch on the emi strip.
We even had components ripped off or loosened. It was a mess. So we talked to the vendor about adding a film cover on the bottom of these boards, and
In the meantime we did as Stephanie has done, removed the EMI strip on the VME crates to solve our problem. So far nothing more has been done with the
Additional film strip on the bottom of these boards.

At SSRL/SPEAR, we had a high failure rate for our MVME6100 boards until we pulled all EMI stripes off our Wiener VME crates. The boards were repaired by the manufacturer.
