I can send you my .proto, .db and BOY. opi screen, and you could fit them to your needs.
My final version (asyn based) communicates through MOXA or serial, has a sequencer which changes the device mode: 10 min delay, 30 sec frequency. The .opi shows mode, delay , frequency, sampling size and allows swapping the operation modes (delay/frequency) . The database has 2 dedicated PVs for switching on/off the archiving.
It is lab developed and tested (not archiving part), but not yet deployed. Will be glad to share.
