Hi,
At the SNS we have a requirement for what might be called a notification server. The beamline staff need to be notified about conditions such as:
* PV A has reached set point
* Someone tried to move motor B past a software limit
* Scan C has finished
* etc.
It would be straight forward to use our existing alarm handler for such things, by modifying the IOC to generate an alarm, and have the alarm handler send out an e-mail or a SMS message. But these aren't alarms, so we don't plan to clutter our alarm handler with such things.
It would be fairly easy to develop something in Python to do notifications, but I am wondering if there is something already out there that is simple to use and can be run headless on a server.
Cheers,
Matt
