The recent thread on interacting with external programs reminds me that
I've never me mentioned a tool I put together to help with similar kinds
of "slow" integration tasks.

pyDevSup is, as the name suggests, a python API for writing EPICS device
support.  So far I've used this for a few things:

* Re-broadcasting our caputlog file as a waveform PV (logApp/).
* Watching Linux daemons to see that they are running (pidMonApp/).
* Checking the weather (weatherApp/)

I'm also working on archApp/ which will provide alarming and statistics
for an Archiver Appliance.
