Subject: EPICS V4.6.0 Release Announcement

The EPICS V4 Working Group is pleased to announce (belatedly) the
release of version 4.6.0 of our software for both C++ and Java. This
release provides cleaner APIs and builds, and more test programs and
more and better examples (both C++ and Java) which can be used as a
starting point for application development. The Python API now supports
reading pvData arrays as numpy objects in addition to improved
performance. All Java libraries are now deployed to Maven Central.

Full information about this release including links to the downloads,
release notes and module documentation can be found at
  http://epics-pvdata.sourceforge.net/docbuild/4.6.0/index.html

The EPICS V4 C++ implementation includes the pvaSrv module which allows
any EPICS IOC built against a supported version of Base (3.14.12 or
later) to also act as a pvAccess server.

The initial announcement of this release of the EPICS V4 software was
made verbally at the recent EPICS Collaboration Meeting at SNS in Oak
Ridge, Tennessee (USA). Our apologies to those who were not present and
are only just hearing about it now; the developers may have been off
celebrating ever since and have only just got around to sending this
message. Or something like that...

Many thanks to everyone who helped to develop and test this release.

- Andrew Johnson, for the EPICS V4 Working Group
