Hi Florian,
here at DESY we have a couple of S7-300 and S7-1200/S7-1500 PLCs. All of
these
are connected to EPICS via the s7plc Support from PSI. More info you can
find at
http://epics.web.psi.ch/software/s7plc/
This works great for us, but you need to have a communications processor
connected
to your plc. For the S7-1200 this is built in. For the S7-300 you need, for
example, the
CP 343-1 respective the CP 1543-1 for the S7-1500.
In my opinion the s7plc is the more secure way, because you send a dedicated
number of variables to your plc. The s7nodave writes directly to the memory
of the
plc. If I am wrong here please correct this, but I don’t like the idea that
someone
writes into the memory of my plc ;-)
