We just received our first XPS-D8 models last week.  The advertised claim that they are completely hardware and software compatible with the XPS-Q8 is not true.  These are the differences we have found so far:

 

-          The D8 does not support FTP to fetch/load configuration files or trajectory definition files.  It supports SFTP.  This means that the trajectory/profile move code in the driver will need to be changed.

-          The I/O connector that has the pulse outputs for trajectory scans has changed.  The C8 and Q8 have a DB-25 connector.  The D8 has a DB-50 connector and different pins.

 

The basic motor record support appears to work OK in our initial testing.
