a while ago, I made an effort to bump our RTEMS+EPICS(+Cexp+GeSys) combo to 5 and it didn't work very well when I tried it on our MVME3100. Detailed description of the process I have put here:

One thing clearly lacking in that process was including libbspext necessary for our board. From there, we moved to combining RTEMS 4.10 with EPICS 7 (and Cexp and GeSys) which also didn't work well (https://epics.anl.gov/tech-talk/2018/msg01373.php). We were able to get a working 4.10+7 setup after dropping Cexp/GeSys from the picture, but no further experiments were done towards RTEMS 5. And even if we had a bootable image of 5 for VME, compiling EPICS apps for it would be another story.

I don't know if that is of any help, but I'm certainly interested in developments in that direction.
