Hi:

Look for the display builder preference settings, https://control-system-studio.readthedocs.io/en/latest/preference_properties.html

color_files=examples:color.def

==> By default, it's using a built-in copy for the color settings.
If you create your own color.def file, and starting with the one from the examples is certainly a good idea, you then need to configure the tool to use your file.
Read the 'Preferences' section in the help to see how to do that, https://control-system-studio.readthedocs.io/en/latest/preferences.html
For example, add this to your settings file:

org.csstudio.display.builder.model/color_files=/the/path/to/my/color.def

and then start the tool with `-settings /path/to/your/settings.ini

You can see the list of effective settings via the menu Help, About. The Details pane includes a tab that lists all preference settings in the same format that is used by the settings.ini file.
