Backtrace isn’t essential for the operation of the IOC or client libraries (some OS targets didn’t always provide the necessary functionality), we’d just need to add some kind of build configuration flag to make it so builds can succeed without those APIs being
needed. If someone wants to work out what needs doing or even develop a patch I don’t think there will be any objections to that kind of a flag being added.

uclibc was been known to work, though isn't tested regularly.
Added support for others would be welcomed.
