Hi John,

The areaDetector website has a list of cameras, some of which are cooled. I haven’t used QImaging cameras, but I can recommend Andor CCDs (USB2 based). On one of our beamlines we have had an Andor iKon CCD being used as the main detector for about 8 years. The latest versions of those cameras can be cooled down to -100C. These are not high frame rate cameras, and are optimized for low noise and astronomy (low light, long exposure) applications.

A more affordable option might be a camera from SBIG, which have several cooled options.

If you’re more interested in frame rates, a sCMOS camera might be best. These will have the higher speed readout options like USB3.

Cheers,

Matt

Subject: [EXTERNAL] RETIGA?

Happy New Year!

We have an old QImaging RETIGA 4000DC camera. This is a Peltier cooled (down to -45 C) sensor with Firewire interface, ~ 4 Megapixel.

I am looking for a replacement.  There is a RETIGA LUMO which is similar but with a USB3 interface?  Does anyone know if the existing ADQimaging works with this camera/interface?

Does anyone want to recommend another cooled camera with existing EPICS support?

Thanks,
