Just to make sure...

Did you consider using OPC UA, via the embedded OPC UA server on the 1500 series? (See: https://github.com/ralphlange/opcua)

Highly flexible, powerful and performant communication.

Also: This will be the standard way for ITER to communicate to their 1500s. (Think long term support.)
