Hi Thomas,

The software described in https://accelconf.web.cern.ch/ica07/PAPERS/FOPA05.PDF sounds like it might do the job, but I’ve no idea if it is still available.

I did write an EPICS interface to a simple TANGO device a while ago using PCASpy and PyTango that I would be happy to send you as an example if that would be useful

Regards,

Freddie

Subject: Make a Tango controlled device visible in EPICS

Hi EPICSers,

I have been asked recently, if we could (for a long-term test) integrate a TANGO device into our control system – at least for surveillance and to archive the most important signals.

My naïve first search had no satisfying results, so I’m asking here:

Is there any known way/implementation/bridge, that allows a (complex) TANGO-controlled device to be interfaced by EPICS (CA or most probably PVA)?

I found the Tango2Epics Gateway implemented by Cosylab a couple of years ago, but it does it the other way around (integrates EPICS-device into TANGO-CS).

Best,

Thomas
