I think it is probably referring to the threads for the General Purpose Tasks described here:
https://epics.anl.gov/base/R3-16/1-docs/AppDevGuide/EPICSGeneralPurposeTasks.html
I don't think the Channel Access threads are in the category of "general purpose thread".

Subject: Usage of an EPICS word
Hi, all
In the previous mail I wrote, I called "CAS-TCP" a "general purpose
thread".
Then, Ralph corrected it that "CAS-TCP" is a "core thread".
Now, I understood what "core thread" means.
What I do not understand is, then, what "general purpose thread" means.
Could anyone teach me what "general purpose thread" means?
Thanks a lot in advance.
