Hi John,
You can use dbcar on the IOC generating the messages to see if there is indeed a CA link to the ioc-xx-uei01 IOC.
You can use casr on ioc-xx-uei01 IOC to see if the other IOC is a CA client.

We have an IOC (runnning in a TMUX window) which generates "Virtual circuit disconnect" messages, e.g.
DB CA Link Exception: "Virtual circuit disconnect", context "ioc-xx-uei01.classe.cornell.edu:5064"
The odd thing is that as far as I know this IOC doesn't connect to any PV in "ioc-xx-uei01".
