Hello everybody,
I am somewhat stuck trying to find a way to open displays from the alarm context menu in Phoebus on systems where these displays are in different absolute locations.
We are moving from EDM/MEDM and Alarmhandler to Phoebus. Where EDM and MEDM have a display search path, Phoebus requires relative or absolute paths. For related displays, we solved this transition by placing all displays
in a single directory tree. Yet, the root of this tree may be at a different point on the file system or sometimes even on a webserver, which is not accessible from everywhere, though.
Now, to add a display to an alarm-node in Phoebus and pass macros to it, you must have a URI with an absolute path. Also, there is no macro substitution or variable expansion happening for these resource strings. I can’t
see a way to make this accessible for systems with the displays in different locations.
So, how do others handle this? Do you have the displays in the same location on every system that needs to open them?
Instead of the display we could use a command and have a script resolve the path and then open Phoebus with that, but that feels like a crutch.
I appreciate any tips.
Best regards,
Malte
