We use the 'service provider interface' mechanism, https://docs.oracle.com/javase/tutorial/ext/basics/spi.html

The specific interface is org.phoebus.ui.spi.ContextMenuEntry, https://github.com/ControlSystemStudio/phoebus/blob/master/core/ui/src/main/java/org/phoebus/ui/spi/ContextMenuEntry.java

Thinking about my recent post, a different spin:   How does one add an option to the list of options that appear when you right-click on a PV entry?    Poking around the Java code, it is far from clear to me where this would go.
