Hi Marco,
Yes, the binary distribution tar ("asset") should be used as is - it contains a binary of the Device Support and the low-level driver as a shared library, so you don't need to compile any of the two.
The "Building with the binary distribution" recipe in the documentation folder shows how this is done.
