Hi all,

 

I agree with Michael. This would be a per PV setting, as you would only want this feature for those PVs on particular IOCs where the timestamp is funky. It would also make the timestamp logic very unintuitive.

 

Some other notes,

 

  • The timestamp of the event in an IOC can be totally different to the host machine time of the IOC. You might be taking the timestamp from some other source like a timing system.
  • The timestamp in the archiver is the time at which the event is received by the archiver, which is not at all when the event happened in the IOC. If your network is flaky and you drop lots of packets for instance, there could be a big delay for when the event is received.

 

Nonetheless, if you want to add this feature, develop it and make a pull request and we can figure out how to cleanly fit it in.
