Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System

I have a Phoebus GUI that contains an image, amongst other controls and feedback. I am testing the possibility of allowing the image size to change based on how a user resizes the main window. Any tests so far have been using a python script attached to the
image. My aim was to allow the image to fill as much space as possible at the bottom to the GUI.
Of course this may be folly but some questions arise:
-
Is this a sensible thing to be doing?
-
Is there a better way rather than via a script or scripts?
-
Can the overall display size be obtained in a script?
-
Is there a way to get the script to execute whenever the GUI is resized?
-
Do people have any examples of GUIs doing similar?
Many thanks
Steve
