Dear Mark,
I hope this message finds you well.
We are currently using the SIS3820 multi-channel scaler (MCS) for data acquisition, collecting data from 6 channels. The maximum sampling rate we require is 30 MHz, which meets our current experimental needs.
As the SIS3820 is now obsolete, we are actively looking for a reliable replacement. I understand that the USB-CTR08 may be a possible alternative, especially given that it works with EPICS and supports MCS mode.
Before making a decision, I would like to ask for your advice on the following:
- Is the USB-CTR08 a suitable replacement for the SIS3820 in terms of performance and functionality, given our requirement of 6 channels and a 30 MHz sampling rate?
- If it is a viable replacement, what steps would we need to take to migrate from the SIS3820 to the USB-CTR08 in terms of hardware integration, driver installation, and application-level changes (e.g., EPICS record updates)?
Any guidance or documentation you could share would be very helpful.
Thank you very much for your time and support.
Best regards,
Ying
