I am explicitly looking for the full range of users. Especially under represented universities, small facilities. Commercial use, home use (brewing and trains). A lot of folks assume it is only for large facilities. That is demonstrably untrue. I would like the evidence posted here to demonstrate that

Hi, Bob!

That list seems to be exclusively comprised of large facilities, which
is fine, but if you want to grow the community or give a more complete
view of who's using EPICS, I'd suggest expanding that to not just large
facilities, but instead think of it as organizations or groups who are
using EPICS.

For example, there are many CAT beamlines at the APS that use EPICS,
including IMCA-CAT.  We are located at the APS, but we're not part of
the APS, and we can use whatever control system we want.  At IMCA-CAT,
our control system is based on EPICS.  And I know there are other CAT
beamlines at the APS that also use EPICS, and the situation is the same
for them: they don't have to use EPICS; they choose to use EPICS.  So,
in my mind, those are all separate users of EPICS that would be nice to
see in a "Who's Using EPICS?" list.

Also, there might be companies using EPICS that don't say anything
because they know they're not a large facility.  If so, you're missing
those users.

I've also seen on the Tech-Talk mailing list what seem to be labs at
universities using EPICS.  Those too seem like another class of EPICS
user that might be missed.

Again, though, if your focus is on large facilities, then I totally get
that, and things can remain as they are.  But just mentioning this in
case you want to show a more complete view of the community.  And if you
wanted to preserve the ability to see which large facilities are using
EPICS, that could be accomplished by a search filter or organizing the
users by type (e.g., large facility, beamline, company, university lab,
etc.).

Regards,

Lewis

P.S. Just a small nit: I don't think the EPICS project controls the
EPICS.org domain, yet you used that domain in the subject of your
message.
