Maybe change the name?

alarmAckTransient  ->  alarmNoAckTransientLevel

Would that be more comprehensive? Or do you have a better idea?

Sounds fine to me. I will change RecordCommon.wiki to

        field(alarmAckTransient,menu(menuAlarmSevr)) {
        # highest level of alarm that does not have to be acknowledged"
        }

If there are objections it can always be changed back.
