Subject: Removing epicsTempName()

Hey guys,

Eric Norum just sent me a patch that removes the epicsTempName() routine
and hence the obnoxious warnings that result from compiling code that
calls tmpnam() on recent OSs. He fixes up the two places inside Base
where we used this [flex and truncateFile()] to call epicsTempFile()
instead. A Google search gives me no other hits on that name other than
in the multiple copies of our documentation that appear online. The
commit is available here:

https://git.launchpad.net/~anj/epics-base/+git/base-7.0/commit/?id=9f4e2a0682e4f31386d17096c5030ab42c0997f5

Two questions for core developers, with a quick response requested if
you want to express an opinion that could change what I do (~2½ hours):

1. Should I apply this to the 3.15 branch and merge up, or just apply it
to the 7.0 branch?

2. Should that happen before or after tagging 7.0.2?

I'm currently inclined to apply it to 3.15 and merge up before the 7.0.2
tag, if I have time this afternoon after our Holiday Party (which starts
now).

- Andrew
