Hi:
---
At one point we had array types that had a fixed maximum array length. Do those types still exist and can you find out what the maximum length of an array is?
---
I'm aware of those based on the protocol description, but have not seen them in the real world, so only implemented SCALAR and VARIABLE_SIZE, not FIXED_SIZE nor BOUNDED_SIZE.
Once we have the C++ server actually produce them, the Java lib would indeed need new types for those, or add something like "getMaxSize()" to the existing PVA*Array types.
---
BTW, have you talked to Greg White about the new Java API at all? He might have comments...
---
Hugo, also at SLAC, had contacted me about trying the new Java client lib in July.
He updated it to be backwards compatible with Java 8.
