Hi,
Below is some information on the latest and greatest Tornado 2.1 and 2.2 releases. I thought others in the collaboration may be interested in this as well. The list of changes provide is not very detailed but it's something. Note that Tornado 2.1 is not available for all architectures supported under 2.0.2 Although, I only inquired about ppc and 68K you'll see that only ppc is supported, but only a for a subset of bsp's which are available under Tornado 2.0.2.
- Regards,
Kristi

-- Kristi,
This in the information I just received about the difference between Tornado 2.1 and 2.2 Note that 2.2 will be using a license manager.
SPEAR will be happy to stick with 2.1.

Harvey,
Here's the info from Wind River regarding T2.2 verses T2.1. Sorry
for the delay.
- Dave
Tornado 2.2 is a substantial update and re-release of the Tornado II
platform. When Tornado 2.2 is released at the end of August, it will be
the
standard Tornado II platform shipping for all major target
architectures.
Key features of Tornado 2.2 include:
- An updated version of VxWorks (VxWorks 5.5 - fully compatible
with
Tornado 2.1)
- New GNU and Diab compiler support
- An updated run-time and BSP packaging model
- A large number of enhancements and bug fixes throughout the
product
line
- FlexLM license management
- Support for the latest versions of Windows and Solaris
- Support for all leading target architectures, including many new
processor derivatives
As a general update to the Tornado II platform, Tornado 2.2 will be
available at no charge to Tornado customers and WindLink partners with
an
existing maintenance agreement.

Dear Kristi,
Tornado 2.0.2 is the most current release for the 68k.
Tornado 2.1 is the most current release for PPC 7400, 7410, 7450 processors;
all other PowerPC processors are on Tornado 2.0.2.
I suggest that you wait for the end of August 2002 release of Tornado 2.2;
then 68k and all PowerPC processors would be merged and on the same version
of Tornado.
Let me know what you decide to do...
Kind regards,
Harvey
