I have a CAEN SY2527 Power supply crate and two A1534 HV modules which need to be controlled by EPICS - Slow Control system for the TOFr. Looking through the modules section of the EPICS website there appear to be modules for VME based CAEN hardware. Am I correct in assuming this will not help in my case? The only way possible to control this hardware I believe is via OPC. CAEN supplies a pre-built OPC server for Windows and source code + libraries for Linux. After having looked through Tech-talk there is an OPC-EPICS interface developed by BESSY - but it is for Windows. Right now the computer to be connected with the hardware and hence become the IOC server will be a linux machine (presumably Scientific Linux 3.0.5). My primary question is: could I use the CAEN supplied source code to write a module which will translate EPICS command to OPC commands and vice versa? I believe this is very similar to what BESSY has already done, although it would be for Linux. As I am an EPICS newbie would it be very difficult to write this module within a month, or am I going about this is the completely wrong way? Thanks, Bertrand
