FWIW, installing openmotif-2.3.0 (beta) from source (on an amd64
debian-testing) went absolutely straight forward for me. In contrast to
older versions of OpenMotif, which had a strange build system, the
latest versions needs only the usual './configure; make; make install'
routine. (You might, however, need to install one or two additional
devel packages from your distro.)
