Dear Shifu,
our product line of embedded computers normally comes with Linux and
EPICS support. More those informations are available on www.microIOC.com
We could provide you two options:

First would be microIOC with DAC analog output card with AFG (arbitrary
function generator). Those microIOC with one or more PC104 DAC cards
could fully replaces VME-4154.
Up to three cards could be installed into 19" 2U rack mountable case.
Each card have 8 analog output channels with 12 bit resolution, output
frequency 100kHz per channel 100 kHz. Additionally, the total memory
capacity is 64k samples and can be variable divided among channels. The
channels can be updated individually or simultaneously and their
voltage can be bipolar (+/- 10V, ±5V) or unipolar (0-10V, 0-5V). By
using 30Hz trigger, it can be outputted 33 ms long arbitrary waveform.

We also have experience with AWG (arbitrary waveform generator). We
offer special AWG microIOC: the system use FPGA and waveforms are
loaded compressed for fast transfers from system to digital generator .

The arbitary function generator VME-4145 we are using is discontinued
and the replacement
is not available now. We could buy some if you have more spare parts
or have some parts lying
around.
Basically, the requirements for the arbitary function generator is as
follows:
> 33 millisecond long programmable waveform triggered at 30 Hz
> bipolar output
> 10 usec time resolution (or better) (implies a memory length of
> 3.3K)
> 1% amplitude resolution (or better) (e.g. 10-12 bits would be
fine)
It would also be great if you could recommand some modules with EPICS
device driver which can meet the above requirements.
Any answers and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'm using Joerger model VDACM waveform generators which I think meet your
requirements: 8 channels, 16-bit, +/- 10 V, memory for 32K points per
channel, 100 KHz clock. If you need better then 10 usec step size, they
also make a 100 MHz board in 12-bit but I haven't used that one.

I wrote EPICS software for the VDACM (VxWorks only at this point).

We had a driver done by Richard Dabney at LANL (he's no longer there) for the Joerger VME AFG in 2003. If that is useful I can dig up the code (VxWorks only and Epics 13, not 14).
