Make sure that the account running the EPICS/ASYN application has
read/write privileges to the special file.
chmod 666 /dev/ttyS0
Or, if you want to restrict the access to a particular account:
chown zhangdemin99 /dev/ttyS0
chmod 600 /dev/ttyS0
Also, are you sure that you have the serial port name right in your
startup command (st.cmd) file? Your message shows a backslash at the
beginning of the name -- is this just a typo when you created the
posting to tech-talk?

Dear all,
I have built ASYN on my computer, but there are some problems
when running application. It said: \dev/ttyS0 can't open Permission
denied
Should I open the serial port in the Linux first or is there
another problems? what should I do next?
many thanks in advance.
