Hi Mark,
if I understand your problem right, your device does not have permissions "0666"
even though you set MODE="0666" in your rules file.
The reason might be that following udev rules overwrite your permissions and set
default permissions for a certain class of devices. To avoid this you'd want to
use MODE:="0666".
