I have come across a problem with the Agilent E5810A Ethernet/GPIB
gateway. I have found that the Agilent gateway sets the GPIB pin 17
(RemoteEnable) high for 20 uS if the GPIB device that it is talking to
does not respond to a request if, for example, the GPIB device was
turned off or the message to it had bad syntax etc. This causes any
other devices on the GPIB network to drop out of remote. This problem
occurred with the two latest versions of firmware - 01_03 and 01_04. I
have contacted Agilent and the latest is that they are still
investigating the problem and are trying to decide what to do about it.

Rob Emery
