Actually I think it was a bug in Perl that appears to have been fixed by 
5.8.4; newer versions seem to insert the prologue automatically when they 
install the xsubpp script.

Thanks for confirming that fix works.

I suspect that's an issue with the version of podchecker and/or pod2html on 
your system, I don't see those warnings here with Perl 5.8.4, 5.8.8 or 5.10.  
It may also be that I'm using POD syntax that superseeds 5.8.0; if your 
CA.html file is broken you can always use the version that's on the R3.14.10 
webpage.
