In future releases EPICS_MODIFICATION will be numeric; I think it was only a
few -pre and/or -RC releases that broke that, and they didn't build properly
on some OSs for that same reason. We have modified the comments in
CONFIG_BASE_VERSION to be explicit about these now:
# EPICS_VERSION must be a number >0 and <256
EPICS_VERSION = 3
# EPICS_REVISION must be a number >=0 and <256
EPICS_REVISION = 14
# EPICS_MODIFICATION must be a number >=0 and <256
EPICS_MODIFICATION = 11
# EPICS_PATCH_LEVEL must be a number (win32 resource file requirement)
# Not included if zero
EPICS_PATCH_LEVEL = 0
# This will end in -CVS between official releases
EPICS_CVS_SNAPSHOT=-CVS
#EPICS_CVS_SNAPSHOT=-pre1
#EPICS_CVS_SNAPSHOT=-pre1-CVS
#EPICS_CVS_SNAPSHOT=-RC1
#EPICS_CVS_SNAPSHOT=-RC1-CVS
#EPICS_CVS_SNAPSHOT=-RC2
#EPICS_CVS_SNAPSHOT=-RC2-CVS
