A common problem with modern Linux systems is that they have a firewall turned on by default. Make sure you don't have a firewall running, or if you do that it allows ports 5064 and 5065 for UDP and TCP.

Subject: MEDM screen go white

Dear all,
I have one OPI with base3.14.9-prel on Red Hat 9, and one IOC with base3.14.9-prel on Red Hat
Enterprise Linux WS 4. The IP of the IOC I set is 192.168.1.1, and the OPI is 192.168.1.2.
after "ping" and "ifconfig", on IOC it gets:

[root@localhost ~]# ifconfig
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:0B:DB:C2:96:D8
          inet addr:192.168.1.1 Bcast:192.168.1.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
          inet6 addr: fe80::20b:dbff:fec2:96d8/64 Scope:Link
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
          RX packets:8 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
          TX packets:16 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
          collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
          RX bytes:740 (740.0 b) TX bytes:1330 (1.2 KiB)
          Interrupt:201
lo Link encap:Local Loopback
          inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0
          inet6 addr: ::1/128 Scope:Host
          UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1
          RX packets:1706 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
          TX packets:1706 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
          collisions:0 txqueuelen:0
          RX bytes:1978328 (1.8 MiB) TX bytes:1978328 (1.8 MiB)

on OPI it gets:
[root@localhost root]# ifconfig
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:11:09:08:A1:1E
          inet addr:192.168.1.2 Bcast:192.168.1.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
          RX packets:272 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
          TX packets:149 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
          collisions:0 txqueuelen:100
          RX bytes:27964 (27.3 Kb) TX bytes:30118 (29.4 Kb)
          Interrupt:21 Base address:0xb000

lo Link encap:Local Loopback
          inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0
          UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1
          RX packets:11864 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
          TX packets:11864 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
          collisions:0 txqueuelen:0
          RX bytes:757526 (739.7 Kb) TX bytes:757526 (739.7 Kb)
I set the Environment Variables EPICS_CA_ADDR_LIST=192.168.1.2 and EPICS_CA_AUTO_ADDR_LIST=NO
on the IOC. when running the IOC , the IOC can't work correctly ,it gets:

epics>../online_notify.c:CA beacon (send to "192.168.1.255:5065")error was "Connection refused"

  Then I set EPICS_CA_ADDR_LIST=192.168.1.1 and EPICS_CA_AUTO_ADDR_LIST=NO
on the OPI. After rebooting the IOC, there is no error message, but the MEDM screen go white. running
casr 10 on IOC, it gets:
