I also used to have same problem and used same method descirbed by Eric,
right click on display to create componets.
Now, I don't have the problem anymore. I don't remember when this
problem went away, but my current environment:
MacOSX 10.6.2
X11 2.3.4
openMotif 2.2.3
EPICS base 3.14.11
medm 3.1.4
does not have the problem reported.
