I just thought about this some more. I realized that if you built asyn with no errors than you actually HAVE built several IOC applications that include asyn (the testApp, testAsynPortDriver, etc. applications in asyn/bin/...).
In addition if you built stream completely with no errors then you HAVE actually built another IOC that includes both asyn and stream! That application is stream/bin/$(ARCH)/streamApp. Did that application build? If so, then it is very puzzling why your application did not build.

I've just tested to build the example application using makeBaseApp.pl
without changing any files. This works.
But as soon as I add Asyn and Stream I get the error.
