Subject: parsing dbr types

Hi,

I was wondering if there are functions available in channel access for
parsing the dbr types that are passed in the const void *dbr field in the
event_handler_args structure. For example, to independently return the
status, severity, and time stamp from a DBR_TIME_xxx type.

I looked through the code in base and saw examples where these fields are
printed out with switch statements for each type, such as in
test_event.cpp. Should I copy this as an example?

Thank you,
Patrick
