Thanks for all the input.
I will consider the phyton solutions,
but I agree the cronjob is an easy and elegant solution.
Thanks

Hi,
A simple approach would be to run the shell script as a cronjob, and it can do caput’s to records in an IOC with whatever information you need.
Cheers,
Matt

Hi
I was considering to make a simple IOC to monitor our "queues" on a pc cluster. The status of the queue can be returned from a simple shell script.
I was wondering if it is possible to use the streamDevice framework to call a shell script on the IOC host and then process the output. That would be a very easy way to make simple connections to existing programs.
What would be the best approach?
Best
